The United States will offer two billion dollars in fresh military assistance to Pakistan, Clinton said on October 22, hailing Islamabad’s efforts against extremist groups. The military aid is the latest twist in the uneasy partnership between the two nations since the September 11, 2001 attacks, after which Pakistan dropped its support for Afghanistan’s Taliban and backed US military efforts.

if we concentrate on utalization of our resources, trade and awareness, honesty and dignity i think there will be no need of foriengn aid specially from america
A country cannot be on steadfast and strong footing if it itself cannot take care of its affairs, because all the external support and aid always carries compromising conditiona and strings.
@M. Ashgar: I second that. The tragedy of this affair is that while such an approach requires the government to steadily fix its focus on handling domestic challenges, pretty much every national civilian government institution is too occupied with what the rest of the world wants from us. Pakistan can only be helped through Pakistani solutions.
No doubt that we should appreciate the aid offered by the US But instead of collecting aids we should firstly draw our attention in rebuilding of our image infront of the Americans, which is not good. After re-building positive image of the Muslims infront of the Americans,we should accept the aids.
whilst we as pakistanis should appreciate the American aid of 2 billoin but the fact of the matter is we should be able to get a lot more if we concentrate on TRADE instead of AID !!!
Irfan is absolutely correct. A long term look at this area is necessary; not just the meeting of immediate Defence and Balance of Payments needs.
